The Cascade Summit Scoring System

Just play.

The Cascade Summit Point System:

1. Tournament placement will be determined by the best three games derived from play.

2. The single best point total for a country wins Best Country.

3. Ties will be broken by taking points to additional decimal points.

4. The top 7 point totals from players who played 3 rounds will be placed on Top Board in Round 5. The highest point total on Top Board wins WAC Con. The remaining 6 will place with all other tournament players.

Tips for Success:

1. Dont die. If you do die, die very late in the game.

2. Get as big as you can as fast as you can, and keep growing. Its best if you end as the biggest on the board.

3. A solo is best. A 2-way is better than a 3-way, etc.

4. The point system uses a progressive atrophy scale. As long as you are moving toward a better result (bigger power/smaller draw) your points will benefit from continued play. A stalemated game, where there is little or no change as years pass, will cause your points to atrophy. End the game if things arent changing.

Determining Points

Raw Scores:

At the end of each year players get points equal to the number of owned supply centers. (a player who solos is considered to own 34 supply centers in the final year).

Players get points subtracted depending on their elimination year, as follows:

Eliminated in:010203040506070809+
Subtract:-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-10

Total the points at the end of the game (Russia only has -1 subtracted from its total) and divide by the game year divide by number (round to 2 decimals) according to the chart below. This is a players Raw Score.

Year:1901190219031904190519061907190819091910
Divide By:1.002.013.034.075.146.257.418.639.9211.29

Year:1911191219131914191519161917191819191920
Divide By:12.7514.3115.9817.7719.6921.7523.9626.3328.8731.59

Example 1: The game lasts 6 years and Russia grows as 5, 7, 7, 10, 10, and 14. Take the total (52: -1 is subtracted from the 01 total) and divide by the game year divide by number (6.25). After rounding to 2 decimals, the player has a Raw Score of 8.32.

Example 2: A non-Russian player survives 6 years of a 12 year game. The player grows as 4, 6, 7, 6, 5, and 0 (-3). Take the total (25), and divide by the 12 year divide by number (14.31) and round to two decimals for a Raw Score of 1.75.

Example 3: The game lasts 6 years and a non-Russian player grows as 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, and 18. Take the total (82, with the solo in the final year considered as 34) and divide by the game year divide by number (6.25). After rounding to 2 decimals, the player has a Raw Score of 13.12.

Topping Bonus:

The player who owns the greatest number of supply centers in the final game year is considered to Top the Board and receives a Topping Bonus equal to their Raw Score multiplied by 0.01 for each supply center they own. If 2 or more players are tied, NO Topping Bonus is awarded. Note that tied refers to the final year number of supply centers owned, NOT the cumulative or Raw Score totals.

Example 1: A player tops with 11 and a Raw Score of 8.20. The Topping Bonus is 8.20*0.11, or 0.90.

Example 2: Two players each have 12 supply centers. One player has a Raw Score of 8.00; the other has a Raw Score of 8.20. Both have their Raw Scores multiplied by 0.12, giving the first player a Topping Bonus of 0.96 and the second player a Topping Bonus of 0.98.

Example 3: A player solos with 18 centers and a Raw Score of 13.12. The Topping Bonus is 13.12*0.34 (the solo player is considered to have 34 supply centers in the final year), or 4.46.

Outcome Bonus:

Players who have solod or share in a draw get a bonus equal to the following:

Solo2way3way4way5way6way7way
3.401.701.130.850.680.570.49

The total of Raw Scores plus Topping/Outcome bonuses is a players point total for the game.
