The Event
The Piggyback Tournament has evolved into something bigger and better than ever before. This year is the inaugral year of the Cascade Summit, an event based in Portland, that is really designed to serve the Northwest as a whole. It is held the last full weekend of April every year.
The PSPND is dedicated to attracting more players to the hobby, and we've worked to structure our event to that end. All the particulars for the 2005 event can be found on the Calendar page.
Why a Tournament?
There are a lot of barriers to getting people to play Diplomacy, but the largest, by far, is the ability to get 7 people in the same room for the amount of time a quality game requires. Tournaments are an effort to get a large group of people together to play a number of games competitively. A tournement structure allows a player to test his skills against peers in multiple games.
The PSPND also organizes FtF house games, both to attract new players, and to keep our skills sharp for events in and beyond the Northwest. These games are always being organized, so if you have any questions or want to get a game together, contact Nathan Barnes.
