Result of the Second Intercollegiate French Cup

Thomas Sebeyran

The Cup was held at the University of Pantheon-Assas on the afternoon of May 4. The winning team was from the University Of Marne the Valley (Paris XIII), also known as "Ben's Boys" in honor of their instructor/master Benoit Clergeot, one of the most competitive french players.

The best diplomatic team (determined by vote of the participants) was the "Why Not?" team, led by the French Champion Cyrille Sevin. The most traitorous team was deemed to be Paris-Dauphine/EPITA (which was also the previous holder of this title).

Due to holidays and late mailings, there were only ten teams competing for the title. However, the atmosphere was very good and the games were well disputed throughout all the afternoon (limited time game). The winning team received the big French Cup and has the privilege to engraving its name on it. The team will keep the cup until the next championship. An authentic medieval Spanish dagger is still (again) in the hand of the traitorous team. Movies tickets for a special Tarantino Night (three movies) were also given to the winners.

Many among the 70 players are ready to come back for the Third Cup which will be held next October or November in Paris or its suburbs.

The Tournament was organized by the French National Association of Strategic Games Players (STRATEGIA) and the Assas Diplomacy Club.
